I wish it wasn't so casually normal to group people together like that and treat it as a defining feature.Would I vote for an "LBGT politician"? Would I hell. Why would I want to vote for someone devoted to promoting stereotyping and division simultaneously? Why would I want to vote for someone who is standing for election on that basis alone, rather than on political issues? Would I vote for a person who happened to be bisexual, homosexual and/or transsexual? Maybe, it depends on the person. And, shock! horror!, I wouldn't exclude people who were straight and the same sex they started off as! All this fuss over trivialities and most of the people claiming to want less prejudice and division merrily promoting both and not even realising the contradiction. Damn, how frustrating. |

They have a woman's genitalia and a woman's secondary sexual characteristics. So they're a woman. Sure, they probably have a type X sex chromosome, but that doesn't really matter. It isn't even that clear-cut in nature - some people have a type X sex chromosome but are female from birth. |

But the feelings the person feels are not a choice. It's the desire, the wanting to do these things that makes you homosexual or transgender, not whether you actually do them or not. That's what Spider_sol and I were saying. |

While the debate whether homosexuality being a choice is very different, getting a sex change is a choice. It's not like this guy woke up one day with a vag and was like, "Okay, I can roll with this." No, he chose to go that route. Using the argument of "a woman born in a man's body" for this is stupid. Whether or not there is any factual evidence of that, this person still made a choice to change sexes. And as for this guy (chick?) running for mayor, I don't see any problems with it. |
